Y2K ?

Y2K stands for the year 2000, the last year of the millenium. There are many questions surrounding the Y2K issue, especially in the realm of computer technology and the ability of computers to properly
function.

The leading theory is that the computer will not be able to tell the difference between 1900 and 2000 due to the fact that the dating system uses only the last 2 digits, it is not 1999 to your computer, but 99.

    There is a possibility of computer failure resulting in the 1) loss of the power and gas distribution grid, 2) loss of telecommunications, 3) loss of bulk transportation. This is considered the iron triangle. If any ONE of these fails, the other two, in theory, fail with it. (example..communication is lost, rail switches do not operate. Coal cars headed to a power plant in your area end up in
Dallas, or New York.....)

    There is a mad rush as all companies try to make their systems Y2Kcompliant.

    The results of such a problem can be anywhere from a minor inconvenience to TEOTWAWKI (the end of the world as we know it.) My faith in government and big business as it is, I am planning for the worst and preparing for the possibility of serious times ahead.

    Inner cities will possibly become battle zones as food becomes more scarce.

    If it is January, how cold will it be without heat. .

    Preparation may be the key to survival.

You don't have to take my word on preparedness. You had better at least take theirs.

    I don't think people hear or read AESOP's fables much anymore, but there is one about the grasshopper and the ant. The Grasshopper played all summer, while the ant prepared for the coming winter. The grasshopper would not prepare. When winter came, there was no food for the grasshopper.
Please don't be a grasshopper.
